The Raeontoru is a Seasonal creature released on Protochroma. It is found only in the Elusive Oasis, a seasonal Sector available only during the summer season, but can be bred for very rarely outside of its season. It has not yet appeared in any Delve. Its standard variant is Ruby.
Descriptions
Baby
This egg has a leathery, flexible shell, and sometimes glows faintly from inside when disturbed.
Juvenile
The egg has hatched into a small, grumpy-looking baby aquatic turtle. It likes to sun itself next to the water, and jumps in to hide when startled. It has long fur around its neck and on its tail that stays exceptionally neat regardless of whether it's wet or dry. During the day, it shows no signs of luminescence, but at night, its mane glows faintly in the dark...
Adult
Raeontoru are one of the flashiest residents of desert lakes and rivers. These turtles get a lot of energy from soaking in the sun next to the bodies of water they call home, and the rest from their diet. While technically omnivorous, they spend the time that isn't spent basking lurking in wait underwater, ready to burst out of the water and drag prey in. Their murkier body colors help them stay hidden, but they have another weapon to startle prey when they pounce: as healthy adults, Raeontoru can light up their fur at will into a blazing fiery-looking glow, making them appear to be on fire even underwater.
These turtles are territorial, moderately social, and the strongest and flashiest individual (regardless of sex) in a "pride" will nudge the others into order and lead attacks against intruders. They can be quite docile towards others they perceive as part of their group, and when raised around other creatures, they may perceive them as pridemates.
