The Lusomna is a Seasonal creature released on Protochroma. It is found only in the Swamped Factory, a seasonal Sector available only during the fall season, but can be bred for very rarely outside of its season. It has not yet appeared in any Delve. Its standard variant is Sapphire.

Descriptions

Baby

This small egg is attached to the underside of a leaf. When disturbed, it glows an eerie blue. It seems like it'd dry out easily if not kept in a very humid environment.

Juvenile

The egg hatched into an aquatic insectoid creature. While its egg was somewhat flashy, it is dull and muddy, and spends much of its time submerged and half-buried in mud. It eats voraciously, and will eagerly devour anything small enough to fit in its jaws, mostly other aquatic insects and small fish. It seems to recognise when its handler brings it food, but isn't particularly curious when full.

Adult

Lusomnae are a species of dragonfly-like insect found in the depths of Chroma's swamps. They absorb sunlight during the day, then use their stored solar power to create glowing wisps of eerie light when they become active at dusk and through the night. These wisps serve to both lure in other insects to prey on, and to misdirect other creatures looking for a snack. Their eerie lights have also led the occasional researcher away from safely recorded paths and into dangerous sinkholes or submerged structures.

There are few creatures that can match the agility of a Lusomna in flight. As a result, they are highly effective predators of other insects. In captivity, Lusomnae are capable of learning to recognise that researchers will feed them, but are not particularly trainable beyond this point. They are not very social creatures, except during their autumnal mating season, during which each Lusomna will attempt to attract mates using their glowing wisps. The many flickering orbs create a dazzling light show in the fall evenings.
